Lockwood Hits Walk-Off RBI Single For 10 Inning Win

Bridgewater, NJ – Somerset Patriots center fielder Mike Lockwood hit a bases loaded single in the bottom of the tenth inning to defeat the Atlantic City Surf 1-0 before 5,332 fans at Commerce Bank Ballpark on Sunday afternoon. In the tenth inning, Patriots designated hitter Travis Anderson walked and advanced to second on a single by second baseman George Sandel. Left fielder Pat Boran drew a walk to load the bases and Lockwood followed with the game winning hit to right field. Patriots reliever Hector Almonte (2-1) picked up the win, allowing a hit in two scoreless innings pitched. Surf reliever Rob Corrado (2-1) suffered the loss, allowing an earned run on three hits in 2.2 innings pitched. «FULL STORY»
Surf Defeats Patriots, 4-3

Bridgewater, NJ – The Atlantic City Surf defeated the Somerset Patriots 4-3 before 6,484 at Commerce Bank Ballpark on Friday evening. The Patriots scored first with a run in the bottom of the third inning. Left fielder Pat Boran doubled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by third baseman Jeff Nettles. The Surf tied the game 1-1 in the top of the fourth inning on a solo home run by designated hitter Clyde Williams (4). Somerset regained the lead on a solo home run by center fielder Mike Lockwood (2) in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 2-1 lead. Atlantic City tied the game up in the top of the sixth inning. First baseman Todd Leathers singled and would later score on a throwing error that made the score 2-2. The Patriots again took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Shortstop Kevin Nicholson singled, moved to third on a single by right fielder Ryan Radmanovich, and scored on an RBI groundout by designated hitter Tony Gsell for a 3-2 lead.
